Even if you love spectrograms as much as we do, navigating long dialogue files can be time-consuming, especially when seeking specific events in a recording. Now you can see what you hear with the new Text Navigation function. It analyzes dialogue and displays a text transcription above the spectrogram that's in sync with the corresponding audio. So you can now search for specific words in an audio file and also select and edit the recording using text.
If you're new to audio repair or you just want to save time, try the new Repair Assistant plug-in, which uses machine learning to find and fix audio issues quickly without leaving your DAW. The Assistant automatically recognizes specific problems and intelligently proposes a repair chain that you can modify to your liking with easy-to-use dials. More than just an upgrade of the previous Repair Assistant, this plug-in was built from the ground up.
Save time removing unwanted hum with the new Dynamic Adaptive Mode in De-hum. Get rid of hums and buzzes on the fly without having to spend time learning the noise profile of your audio. Eliminating electromagnetic interference or other complex noise that changes pitch can now be done automatically without sacrificing quality.

General Features
Restore Collection
Roll back an audio selection to any previous step in your History list to get the best combination of audio processing from any point in time with the brand-new Restore Selection feature.
When hovering your cursor over an item in the History list with a selection made in the spectrogram, an icon appears in line with the text. Clicking this icon will restore your selection to that point in history. This is the same as going back to that point in undo history, except only for your current selection.
Spectral Editor in Logic Pro
Spectral Editor allows Logic Pro users to put some of the most powerful iZotope processing and visualization to work without having to toggle between Logic and the RX Audio Editor. It combines RX Spectral Repair, RX's spectrogram, and RX interactive tools that enable engineers and producers to identify and eliminate unwanted noises—right in Logic.
Guitar De-Noise
Guitar De-noise lets you refine your guitar recordings for maximum clarity. Manage sounds unintentionally emphasized by the effects of compression or limiting, like electrical amp noise and interference, distracting fret or string squeaks, and harsh pick attacks. With intuitive sliders for sensitivity and gain reduction, polishing guitar performances for intelligibility and authenticity is now relatively easy and transparent.
Loudness Control
Prepare your recordings for final delivery with the detailed level readings and loudness-management power of the Loudness Control module. Load preset loudness-standard targets to ensure your audio conforms to broadcast requirements, and monitor your levels using the built-in numeric and histogram readouts for integrated, short-term, and momentary loudness. Plus, resize the module to fit your display perfectly and suit your unique workflow.
32-Tab Limit for Audio Tabs
Time is precious when editing audio in post. To help you tackle more work faster, RX 8 doubles the previous 16-tab limit, now allowing you to view and edit up to 32 files within RX Audio Editor. Cover more ground in less time with greater efficiency and in-app real estate.
Horizontal Scrolling
Horizontal scrolling is now built into the intuitive Spectrogram Display. Use the scroll gesture on your trackpad or mouse with your cursor to scroll through your audio across the X-axis for lightning-fast edits.
Improved De-Hum
The De-hum module in RX 8 Elements uses an improved detection and reduction algorithm to automatically identify the base frequency of your unwanted hum and precisely remove it and its harmonics, ensuring a clean overall sound. For more complex hum and buzz removal, De-hum automatically recommends when to use De-noise instead, so you'll always have the best tool at hand for the job. Don't forget to use Adaptive mode to remove hum that changes in frequency over time.
Improved Batch Processor
Process several audio files in one pass with the newly overhauled Batch Processor. View pertinent metadata in your audio files prior to processing, then apply a full series of processors with the Module Chain, now accessible from within the Batch Processor interface. At the end of it all, export your files in multiple file formats and bit-depths for optimal efficiency and organization. This tool is ideal for refining hundreds of samples for custom-made sample libraries.
Improved Music Rebalance
Identify vocals, bass, percussion, and other instruments in a mix, and adjust the gain for each element. Isolate or remove elements, or split stems for tweaking in your DAW. The results sound more transparent over the previous version, nulling to a far greater degree.
Variable Time
Adjust the time-stretch amount of an audio selection without altering its pitch.
Variable Pitch
Adjust the pitch of an audio selection while preserving the time and length.
Music Rebalance
Identify vocals, bass, percussion, and other instruments in a mix, and adjust the gain for each element. Isolate or remove vocals.
Repair Assistant
Repair Assistant is an intelligent tool that detects noise, clipping, clicks, and more, allowing you to solve audio-restoration issues quickly and effectively. After analyzing any snippet of audio you select, it will provide three different options for processing, and let you make the ultimate choice.
Composite View
Composite View allows you to edit and apply processing to 32 individual audio tracks as if they were one, easily addressing audio issues that appear across multiple microphones.
De-Bleed
Working across multiple tracks, the De-bleed module reduces the leakage of one signal into another. De-bleed can help reduce or eliminate bleed from headphones, click tracks, multiple mics with small amounts of cross bleed, and even some drum bleed issues.
De-Ess
The De-ess plug-in and module attenuates or reduces sibilance (the harsh high-frequency sounds that come from S, F, X, SH, and soft-C sounds). Two modes for handling sibilance are provided. Classic Mode detects sibilants and attenuates them with a broadband gain envelope. Spectral Mode is more transparent, intelligent, and frequency-specific, and only attenuates the high frequencies where sibilance is most active, leaving the lower frequencies untouched.
Mouth De-Click
The Mouth De-click module has been finely tuned to detect and reduce mouth noises such as clicks and lip smacks—many listeners' worst nightmare. It's designed for use on longer audio selections, but it can also be used to remove individual clicks.
Breath Control
The Breath Control module intelligently detects breaths in dialogue or vocal recordings and suppresses them. Removing and reducing breaths in recordings can be a time-consuming process for dialogue editors and music producers. Breath Control can help reduce the time spent on repetitive editing without sacrificing audio quality.
Voice De-Noise
The zero-latency Voice De-noise has been designed to focus on dialogue and sung vocal treatment. Voice De-noise has an Adaptive mode that can adjust to a changing noise floor in real time, making it ideal for dialogue denoising. Also added are optimization modes for dialogue and music. When optimized for music, Voice De-noise excels at attenuating unwanted background noise from air conditioners and street noise to sung vocals in apartment recording situations.

iZotope VocalSynth 2 Vocal Resynthesis and Harmony Generation Software (Download)
Featuring a complete graphical redesign and a whole new voice-modeling module, iZotope VocalSynth 2 is a tool designed to transform an input signal—usually a vocal—into a creative, synthetic sound. An instance of this plug-in provides access to five separate vocal engines. You get the four modules from the original Vocalsynth (Vocoder, Talkbox, Polyvox, & Compuvox), and a whole new one called Biovox.
Biovox utilizes scientific modeling of the human vocal tract, allowing you to change aspects like formants, vowel shapes, and nasality in a smooth manner. Use Biovox for subtly-changed vocal doubles when you've only got a single vocal track, or utilize this module as an eccentric sound-design tool.
The effects section has been updated to provide better sound quality, and two new stompbox-style modules have been added to the mix: Chorus and Ring Mod, the latter also serving as an idiosyncratic tremolo effect. As with the previous version of VocalSynth, you can use the plug-in in various modes, including Auto Mode (requiring no MIDI or sidechaining), MIDI Mode (imparting the consonants, formants, and vowels of a sidechain inpun upon the MIDI synth); and Sidechain Mode (applying the quality of the vocal to an audio source, say a guitar for example).
This plug-in also allows for inter-communication between iZotope plug-ins, meaning you can seamlessly integrate VocalSynth 2 with Neutron 2, Ozone 8, and Tonal Balance Control. VocalSynth 2 can be seen and manipulated within Neutron 2's Visual Mixer and Masking Meter as well. This software is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and supports AU, VST, and AAX formats.
5 Vocal Processing Engines
VocalSynth 2 provides separate engines for Vocoder, Talkbox, Polyvox, Compuvox, and now Biovox. Use any of these to emulate the tones of classic records or to achieve something truly new.
Stompbox Style Effects
VocalSynth 2's effects include two brand new pedal-style effects: Chorus and Ring Mod with a tremolo effect. Now drag to re-order all seven effects including an improved Shred with sequencer as well as Distort, Filter, Transform, and Delay.
3 Modes
VocalSynth 2 is built to be flexible, giving you three ways to interact and create: Auto Mode, MIDI Mode, and Sidechain Mode.
Inter-Plugin Communication
Use VocalSynth 2 within Neutron 2's Visual Mixer and Masking Meter, as well as Tonal Balance Control for a bird's eye view of your music production at all times.
Improvements Over Original
Improvements have been made to the Vocoder module, as well as Talkbox, Polyvox, and Compuvox. These improve usability, CPU utilization, and sound quality.
iZotope Insight 2 Metering and Audio Analysis Plug-In for Music and Postproduction (Download)
Available for download, iZotope Insight 2 is an update to their renowned metering software and comprises a set of tools designed for post-production and broadcast applications. Insight 2 provides an extensive set of audio analysis and metering tools that can help you visualize the changes made during mixing and mastering. These meters can be essential for troubleshooting problematic mixes, as well as ensuring compliance with broadcast loudness standards.
Fully customizable and scalable, Insight 2 allows you to visually monitor all the relevant information from your mono, stereo, or multichannel mix in a convenient floating window. This window has been redesigned and updated to provide a sleek look more in concert with iZotope's current design scheme. Also, the GUI is now resizable: it can encompass a full screen or just one tiny meter floating in the corner of your DAW. Thus, the metering can be adapted to suit your workflow as it changes.
Insight 2 visually guides you throughout the mixing process, empowering you to look deeper into your audio with intelligent analysis tools and real-time monitoring capabilities. Loudness meters are clearly visible with color-coded readouts for short-term, momentary, and integrated values. Multichannel RMS metering is on hand, as is sound-field monitoring, a loudness history graph, a spectrum analyzer (for frequency content), a customizable spectrogram, and a new addition to the family: the Intelligibility Meter.
This tool works in conjunction with iZotope's new Relay module to help you see, at a glance, whether or not dialogue is intelligible over the rest of the mix. Simply put Relay on your mix, and track the results in the meter. With an easy-to-read scale, you will discover if your dialogue's intelligibility will translate to other listening environments. You can even choose listening environments to check if the dialogue will read well over moderately noisy or severely noisy confines.
The included Relay module facilitates intercommunication with compatible iZotope products as well as the ability to monitor the output of audio affected by third-party plug-ins; the latter function is accomplished by instantiating Relay as the last plug-in in your chain. The module itself has multiple useful features, including delay offset, phase invert, sum-to-mono, L/R swap, and high-pass filtering.
Fully compliant with EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770-1/2/3/4, ATSC A/85, OP-59, and other current standards, Insight 2 provides the tools you need to be confident that your audio meets regulations. It is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and operates in AU, AAX, AAX-AS, RTAS, DPM-AS, VST2, and VST3.
Updated Look and Feel
Insight 2 has an updated design that matches the rest of the iZotope family. Important metering targets have been emphasized to make the metering suite easier to read at a glance.
Resizable
Now you can easily resize individual meters in the main window by clicking and dragging between two meter frames. Also, the main window can be resized to be as small as the smallest meter, or to take up the whole screen.
Customize Your Layout
Insight 2 is customizable and flexible to suit your workflow. Select one of the many Layouts designed for specific music and postproduction settings.
Intelligibility Meter
This meter provides guidance on whether dialogue is likely to be overshadowed by the loudness of the rest of your mix. Using iZotope Relay or other compatible plug-ins, Insight 2 takes information from your dialogue track and gives you recommendations on where your dialogue should be when compared to the rest of the elements. Select among different target listening environments that range from low to high noise. This will help you check how your dialogue will translate to different listeners in different spaces.
