After much demand from Blackstar customers we are excited to introduce the stunning HT Club 40 MkII 6L6 as an ongoing alternative to the standard HT Club 40 MkII. The 6L6 power valve has characteristic glassy clean tones, crunchy overdrives and smooth mid-range, making these power valves the perfect match for the dynamic HT Club 40 MkII.

HT Club 40 MkII 6L6 sees the standard award-winning 40W combo powered by a pair of 6L6 valves, driving a 12” Celestion Seventy-80 speaker. Equipped with 2 channels and 4 footswitchable voices the HT Club 40 MkII is the ideal gigging valve amp for club sized venues. Now this ground-breaking amplifier takes a different tonal direction with 2 x 6L6 valves powering dynamic clean and crunch tones and a flexible 10% Power Reduction to create the ideal club performance, home practice and studio recording amplifier in one amazing combo.

The original EL34-loaded HT Club 40 MkII has been a Sweetwater customer and employee favorite for years. Cleans to gains, blues to shred, this amp continues to blow us away with its versatility and value. Now, Blackstar ups the ante with the 6L6-powered HT Club 40 MkII 6L6. This amp’s increased headroom and tighter low-mid punch supply a sound that is distinctly American, all while retaining the boutique character, limitless gain range, and versatile ISF contour of its predecessor. In addition to its new tube layup, a stock Celestion Seventy-80 12-inch speaker gives this amp the edge for spangly surf and country cleans to SoCal-sourced power chord pummeling. Around back, the Blackstar HT Club 40 MkII 6L6’s two switchable reverb textures and speaker-emulated direct output make stage gigging and home recording easier than ever.

6L6 power tubes: increased headroom, tighter midrange

A stock HT Club 40 MkII comes loaded with dual EL34 power tubes, which deliver a British-sounding snarl that’s tailor-made for hard rock and metal. The MkII 6L6, on the other hand, boasts a pair of 6L6s — the power tube most associated with the California Sound. Thanks to these tubes and its stock Celestion Seventy-80 12-inch speaker, the MkII 6L6 has more headroom than a stock HT Club 40 MkII and greater midrange “stiffness,” which makes it a superb pedal platform and a great vehicle for everything from country twang to SoCal metal.

Revoiced channels for top-tier tone

When Blackstar hit the drawing board for their HT Club 40 MkII 6L6, not only did they reference their own amps’ popular tones, but they wanted to match or beat the tones of electric guitar amplifiers costing up to five times more. Take it from the guitarists at Sweetwater: they nailed it. The clean channel has a clarity and note definition that is rare on amps in the MkII’s price range. Move over to the gain channel, and you’ll take note of how great the sound is throughout the whole range of overdrive.

Patented Infinite Shape Feature

The Blackstar HT Club 40 MkII 6L6 is packed with a massive variety of tube tone, by virtue of Blackstar’s Infinite Shape Feature (ISF). This exclusive feature shifts the EQ curves of the amplifier’s Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. When turned fully counterclockwise, you’ll lend an American characteristic to your voice with a tight bottom end and aggressive middle. Turned all the way to the right, you’ll enjoy more of a British vibe. Beyond that, four different operating modes can be accessed via a pair of Voice switches, unleashing both vintage and modern voicings for each channel.
