Analog Monophonic Synthesizer

256 patch memories

Modular Analog Synthesis for the 21st Century
By combining the analog sonic power of their Brute series analog synthesizers with an innovative routing and sequencing matrix, Arturia's MatrixBrute provides you with the full flexibility of a modular synth, with the convenience of modern digital control. This isn't to say that the MatrixBrute won't play well with your modern modular gear — its 12-in/12-out CV section covers all the analog I/O you could ask for — but you don't need to touch a single patch cable to route signal around this singular synth. While traditional elements such as a 4-mode Steiner-Parker filter and a 3-mode ladder filter are exciting all by themselves, the 64-step sequencer and ability to instantly recall 256 presets have really turned heads here. We're also impressed by the feel of the full-sized, 49-note keyboard, which makes the Arturia MatrixBrute one of the most playable synthesizers around.

Steiner-Parker filter delivers a huge range of sonic possibilities
A Steiner-Parker filter is onboard to help give the MatrixBrute its characteristic creamy, thick analog sound. First used on the classic Synthacon synthesizer in the 1970s, this diode filter gives you lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and notch modes, along with a drive control, delivering a staggering range of sonic possibilities. And, unlike some filters, it causes no loss of amplitude while cranking up the resonance, so you can dial in epic amounts of squelch while leaving your signal forceful and intact. The MatrixBrute also includes a traditional ladder filter, perfect for sculpting ultra-fat bass tones and hyper-aggressive leads. What’s more, you can select between 2-pole and 4-pole slopes for either filter, whether you want the sweep to be smooth and detailed or quick and extreme.

Powerful and flexible modulation matrix and step-sequencer
As its name suggests, the MatrixBrute stands apart from other analog synthesizers with its immensely powerful 256-point modulation matrix, which allows you to route any of the MatrixBrute’s 16 modulation sources to 16 modulation destinations. Modulation sources include three LFOs, three voltage outputs from the MatrixBrute’s envelope generators, mod wheel, aftertouch, and more. With this may routing capability, the sound design options are nearly endless. Additionally, the matrix acts as a 64-step sequencer for programming propulsive synth-wave and future retro pattern sequences.

Onboard vintage-style true analog effects section
To cap off its rich analog gooiness, the MatrixBrute is equipped with a fully analog effects section. Create super-wide pads with the lush stereo chorus; cavernous echoes with the bucket-brigade-style stereo and mono delays; and swirling, otherworldly soundscapes with the vintage-flavored flanger; finally, route it all through the MatrixBrute’s massively spacious analog reverberator to put the celestial icing on the cake.
